Summer Sparks Literacy

MONDAY, JULY 14: What are your favorite silly songs or rhymes? Think “there was a great big moose” and “he liked to drink a lot of juice!” Summer is a powerful time for youth to grow their language and reading skills and spark learning in unexpected ways. Becoming a reader requires us to weave many different skills together over time. Youth professionals, parents and caring adults have innumerable ways to grow and extend children’s exposure to words How can we support that growth? By lifting up Literacy during National Summer Learning Week! Go to Summer Sparks Literacy.

Summer Sparks the Arts

TUESDAY, JULY 15: Whether it is visual, verbal, theatrical or musical, the arts not only offer young people powerful ways to express themselves, but they also provide rich opportunities to develop durable, transferable skills like teamwork, problem solving, and resilience. Creative activities help young people explore who they are, make meaning of the world, and connect them to their communities.  Go to Summer Sparks The Arts.

Summer Sparks Health and Wellness

WEDNESDAY, JULY 16: Summer is a time to explore, grow, and connect. As part of National Summer Learning Week, we’re spotlighting how communities across Wyoming are building healthier communities for young people. Whether it’s through physical activity, mental health support, or simple practices like preparing a smoothie or journaling, these programs give youth tools for lifelong well-being.  Go to Summer Sparks Health and Wellness.

Summer Sparks STEM

THURSDAY, JULY 17: STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. But it’s much more than an acronym. STEM is a dynamic way of thinking and solving problems. It’s how we understand the natural world, design solutions for real-life challenges, and build the future.  Go to Summer Sparks STEM.

Summer Sparks Community & Leadership

FRIDAY, JULY 18: Learning happens everywhere—and young people thrive when they feel a sense of belonging and purpose. This post will be published on Friday

Unlocking the Potential of Summer Learning

The Wallace Foundation believes, “summer programming not only has the potential to accelerate learning, it can also engage, enrich, and advance students in ways that resonate long after summer break comes to an end. In that way, maybe summer’s agrarian roots aren’t so far from the mark. It is a chance after all to plant seeds that will grow long after summer has passed.” Open the Wallace Summer Learning Toolkit.
