Wyoming Reads Day
OPENING DOORS AND INSPIRING A LOVE OF READING
Communities across the state mark Wyoming Reads Day on the third Tuesday of May. What started as a local effort has grown into a powerful example of how partnerships between libraries, schools, and community organizations can create meaningful opportunities for young people beyond the school day.
Through Wyoming Reads, every first-grader receives a brand-new book to call their own. Led by the Sue Jorgensen Library Foundation, the event is supported by the Wyoming State Library, the Natrona County Library, and organizations that have been working together to place more than 100,000 books into the hands of young readers.
Celebrate on Tuesday, May 19, 2026
WYEN Advisory Board Member and Natrona County Library Youth Services Manager Jenn Beckstead is featured in this 2026 launch video, highlighting the leadership and local commitment that make this work possible.
Thrive Beyond the Bell
Wyoming Reads Day shows what it looks like when communities come together to help young people thrive beyond the bell. Connecting young people to caring adults and welcoming spaces helps them find new opportunities to explore their interests, build skills, and feel a sense of belonging.
This is what the Time to Thrive movement is all about! Wyoming communities are working together to expand enriching opportunities for every young person across the state.
